Docton Mill Gardens and Tea Rooms is a family business owned by Land and John Borrett. The gardens and tea rooms surround the watercourses which form the spine through the gardens. What makes it even more special is out location being 1500m from the wild Atlantic coast in the truly magical Spekes Valley, which offers a unique microclimate for plants.
The opening of the gardens coincides with the display of narcissi, some 20,000, which are found throughout the borders. Variety in planting through the differing areas – bog garden, woodland garden, waterfall garden, summer garden, herbaceous borders and stream garden – give interest through the gardening season.
We encourage people to walk the 1500m to the coast to view the fantastic waterfall at Spekes Mill Mouth and watch it cascading into the Atlantic Ocean. Please bring wellies for the walk.
The award winning tea rooms, which surround the garden terrace and Mill House dating back to 1249, are open daily. Our food is freshly prepared in the granary kitchen, the menu includes homemade soups, pasties, seafood salads, freshly filled rolls, homemade cakes and of course our ward winning cream teas, served by friendly staff in beautiful surroundings.
