The IDTA was formed in the late 1980s combining the Ilfracombe & District Hotel & Catering Association & the Ilfracombe Publicity Association. This new group took over the running of the Tourist Information Centre & the production of the Ilfracombe Guide, which continued until 2015. We still help and support the Tourist Information Centre and actively promote Tourism within North Devon. In 2022 it has been renamed Ilfracombe & District Business & Tourism Association.
Members are from various local businesses including Accommodation, Restaurants, Cafes and Tourist Attractions to small local businesses and shops. We offer a support network, with regular emails and a quarterly newsletter with a variety of social and informative events being held in the low season, where you can meet other members and have fun days/evenings out.
Membership fees help towards the regular annual donations that we make to various Ilfracombe groups plus we include a Tourism Project Fund fee that goes towards specific capital tourism projects.
We have representation on Harbour Board, the Ilfracombe Marketing Group, and Events4Ilfracombe.
