Varley House Guest House

An ideal base to discover the area

Varley House is an Edwardian Guest House built at the beginning of the 20th Century as a Rest Home for Officers recuperating from the Boer War. Hence our rooms have some of the grandeur of that era, with high ceilings, and furniture to complement, as we have tried to add back in some of this elegance.

We have 7 bedrooms, all en-suite. This comprises of 1 Triple Room with 3 single beds, 1 Twin bedded room, and 5 double rooms one of which has a king-size bed. All rooms are well proportioned, and 4 of these rooms have a bay window with sweeping views across the Bristol Channel to Wales.

Rod, Helen & Ross, welcome you to our home, where you can enjoy relaxing in our Guest Lounge, or playing Board Games, or if you prefer, purchase a tipple from our bar as well.

All reservations include Breakfast, which if you read reviews, is always well appreciated by many guests. We can cater for most diets, but if you do require something special, let us know in advance.

We are an ideal place to stay before and after a visit to Lundy Island, as we allow you to leave your car with us at no Extra Cost, although we do encourage donations in our RNLI Box.

Also we are good stopover if you are walking the South West coast path, and with the bus service quite good around here, you can stay for a couple of days, or if you want to travel further afield, Exmoor, with the beautiful towns of Lynton, Lynmouth & The Valley of Rocks.

Or you can travel the other ways to the towns of Appledore, Bideford & Westward Ho.

We are also an ideal base for a number of gardens and other attractions in the area.
