Ilfracombe Chocolate Emporium is dedicated to all things chocolate.

Whether visiting Ilfracombe or you live locally, you can sample and buy from a wide range of handmade chocolates, made in our Ilfracombe High Street premises by our own Jeannette Cann, Chocolatier.  The aroma will greet you when you enter: you can literally breathe in our chocolate.

Our chocolate is made using traditional methods starting with real cocoa beans, that is then tempered by the chocolatier, to bring you smooth, shiny, delicious quality chocolate. All of our chocolate is sustainably sourced, fait trade and accredited by the Rain Forest Alliance.

Browse the exhibits and mementoes in our free chocolate museum, including our six-foot ‘hunk’ of chocolate, giant Easter egg, and adverts and chocolate boxes from yesteryear…even a real chocolate dog. If the chocolatier is in the kitchen, you can view her making chocolate for sale in the shop and online. If she is not in the kitchen, she will be very happy to talk you through the process and give you some insights into where the chocolate comes from.

Select from our handmade individual chocolates, our bars which are hand decorated with various toppings and in various sizes, or even our handwritten slabs. These are all available with a great fun range of labels. Chocolate can be personalised for special occasions (notice required), or we can gift wrap a selection in a luxury hamper.  You can choose to have your individually selected chocolates boxed or we offer preselected boxes of our best sellers.

We offer a wide range of sugar-free, dairy-free, vegan, gluten & wheat-free confectionery.

Boxes and packaging are made from recycled materials and are recyclable.

Would you like to experience making chocolates for yourself?
We run a selection of classes suitable for various ages.

*The Place to start – Learn about chocolate, where it comes from, try lots of chocolate tasters, then decorate a chocolate person shape.
*Truffles & Bubbles – taste some chocolates, then make and roll truffles. Bubbles, champagne or soft drinks accompany your workshop.
*Ancient to modern Chocolate Drinking Ceremony (Winter Only) – experience a ancient chocolate ceremony and then try several different drinking chocolates and some chocolate surprises.
*Bar Making… learn about chocolate, taste chocolate,  craft your own artisan chocolate, and learn how to fill bars with goodies too.
*Introduction to Chocolate – This is a more in depth course which allows you to experience different ways of creating and decorating chocolate. You will take over £30 worth of your own handmade chocolate home.

We have many other seasonal chocolate workshops as the year and seasons change.
