Exmoor National Park

The first Dark Sky Reserve in Europe.

Exmoor is a unique natural environment in west Somerset and north Devon, consisting of high sea cliffs and rolling moorland, working farmland and deep wooded valleys. Scattered with small villages, Exmoor has a picturesque charm. Explore the twin delights of Lynton and Lynmouth, linked by a Victorian, water-powered Cliff Railway and just along from Lynton you’ll find the Valley of Rocks with their local goat population,

Walking is the top activity on Exmoor, follow one of the coastal paths, meander along a tree-lined valley or clamber up steep-sided hills for the reward of a stunning view when you get to the top. You don’t need to go too far to come across the famous Exmoor Pony, perfectly adapted to the upland conditions of Exmoor.

It’s not just the outdoors to enjoy, take time to absorb the charm of the coastal communities and to explore Exmoor’s vast history through its rural towns. There’s a range of country pubs, restaurants and cafes across the countryside for you to sample.

Exmoor was the first Dark Sky Reserve in Europe. With very little light pollution it’s amazing what the naked eye can see. Let your eyes adjust to the dark for ten minutes and the secrets of the sky will be reveal
