Hele Corn Mill Tearoom

16th century working watermill

Four times winner of Devon Life’s Best Tearoom award out tearoom is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional Devonshire cream tea. All items are baked on the premises by the miller’s wife and the selection changes daily but feature predominantly a tempting selection of mill-made cakes, many of which are baked with stoneground flour from our 16th century working watermill.

We have a range of cream teas as well as fruit and plain scones and Devonshire splits for that truly traditional cream tea experience. Try our ‘thunder & lightning’ scones, with clotted cream and golden syrup, or a savoury cream tea, cheese scones served with cream cheese and caramelised onion marmalade, or treat yourself to a High Tea with sandwiches, scones and cake! Special dietary requirements can be catered for but please let us know in advance. Gluten free, dairy free and vegan cake is available.

Children will love to visit the rabbits in the Bunny Barn and perhaps bottle feed a visiting lamb at Easter. We have photo quizzes, challenges and puzzle games to keep them amused giving you time to sit back and enjoy your cream tea before taking a look around the old watermill where the children can try milling flour on the hand quern.
