DESCRIPTION:Alongside our Animals in Ilfracombe exhibition\, we will be running a series of family art workshops with Creative Minds North Devon:\nIn Ilfracombe Museum you cannot help but be surrounded by eyes\, from the many taxidermy birds and creatures that reside there\, in this workshop we will be using clay and a ceramic ‘eyeball’ to create a fantastical creature’s eye!\nSuitable for children aged 4-11\, children must be accompanied by an adult. No more than one adult per child and no more than two children per adult please due to space restrictions\, tickets cost £4 for 1 child plus an adult\, extra sibling £2\, places are limited to 8 children.

SUMMARY:Braunton Bat Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join local ecologists and bat experts for this walk to Braunton Beacon to discover the nocturnal activities of some very rare creatures.\n\nBooking essential via our website. Suggested £4 donation* on the day.\n\nBraunton is the gateway to the North Devon Coast AONB and Biosphere Reserve\, noted for its special landscapes\, including Braunton Burrows\, Braunton Great Field and Braunton Marshes. This walk will take in the Braunton Beacon (West Hill)\, the River Caen and St Brannocks Churchyard which are important habitats for a number of species of bats including the rare Greater Horseshoe Bat.\n\nThroughout the walk we will be listening and looking out for bat species flying overhead whilst they go about their foraging practices at dusk. We will have some portable bat detectors available to share during the walk.\n\nPlease note: the ascent to the Braunton Beacon includes a very steep slope. The route also includes one flight of steps and two steep ascents on the route up to Braunton Beacon. Please wear sensible footwear and appropriate weather clothing. All children must be supervised by an adult.\n\nPlease also bring a small torch. Unfortunately\, dogs are not permitted on this walk\, as they disturb the wildlife.\n\nMeet at Braunton Countryside Centre at 7.30pm. The walk will finish at the Centre at 9.30pm.\n\n*The Braunton Countryside Centre is a small volunteer-run charity. We rely on donations to keep our doors open and to maintain a vibrant events programme. We also want to make sure our events are open to all\, regardless of circumstances. So\, although we do not charge event fees\, we do ask for a suggested minimum donation of £4 per person\, but any amount you are happy/able to give\, would be greatly appreciated. If you wish to further contribute to our running costs\, you can become a Friend of Braunton Countryside Centre for £15 per year. Please find the details on our website\, or ask at the Centre.

DESCRIPTION:The Carnival Procession – An eclectic mix of floats and walking groups will keep you entertained for an evening. This spectacular event raises monies for local charities and is a fun night for all the family. From 5pm there will be music\, stalls and food vendors on the Seafront. \nRoad closure is at 17.30 prompt with the parade starting at 6pm. \nThe Parade leaves Hillsborough (Swimming Pool) car park\, travels along Hillsborough Road\, Portland Street\, High Street\, Church Street\, turns right at Wilder Road along the Seafront\, down St James Place arriving on Broad Street where it dissembles. \nThe £2000 proceeds from 2024 street collection were donated equally to Ilfracombe Food Bank & Belles Place. \n \nIlfracombe Carnival 2024 Photos by Tim Lamerton\nIlfracombe Carnival 2024 Photos by Tim Lamerton
