Grading Information

All accommodation has passed a quality inspection either by Visit Britain, the AA or through our local inspection scheme (IDTA).

LOCAL INSPECTION SCHEME

Advertisers displaying IDTA are members of, and have been inspected by an independent inspector. All inspected accommodation will have achieved at least minimum Visit Britain standards and may well be of a higher standard. The Association looks at their criteria in accordance with each property, valuing individuality, charm and overall ambience.

NATIONAL INSPECTION SCHEMES

When you are looking for a place to stay you need a rating system you can trust. Visit Britain and the AA operate one harmonized rating scheme. Ratings are your clear guide to what to expect, in an easy to understand form. Properties are visited annually by trained, impartial assessors, so you can have confidence that your accommodation has been thoroughly checked and rated for quality before you make a booking.

The star ratings are designed to meet the greater expectations of consumers with regards to quality and facilities.

STAR RATINGS MADE EASY

* 1 star - simple, practical, no frills
** 2 stars - well presented and well run
*** 3 stars - good level of quality and comfort
**** 4 stars - excellent standard throughout
***** 5 star - exceptional with a degree of luxury

emphasis on quality and is based on research
which showed exactly what consumers are
looking for when choosing accommodation.
