Wake up to Ilfracombe - in glorious North Devon
Home > > Strathmore
Strathmore, our home, is a delightful licensed Victorian guesthouse, dating back to the 19th century and benefits from having its own private car park. All eight en-suite bedrooms have been lovingly restored and offer both individuality along with a high level of comfort to suit all pockets and tastes. All of our bedrooms have colour TV, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryers and many other extras. The more spacious premier rooms also have a trouser press.
Whether you are a single guest, couple or a family - we are more than able to accommodate you, and welcome children of all ages (discounts apply) as well as pets into our home. It does not matter if you are just looking for somewhere to rest overnight or a short break, we are happy to look after you and your individual needs.
When you arrive, before going out to dinner and upon your return feel free to drop into our well stocked and cozy lounge bar for a relaxing drink, or if the weather permits why not take your drink out into our terraced garden.
When it comes to breakfast, please help yourselves to cereals, yogurts, fruit juices and grapefruit segments at our well-stocked breakfast table, before we serve freshly prepared full English, vegetarian breakfast or, should you prefer, kippers. There is also a wide variety of speciality teas, coffee or hot chocolate available. We are sure you will not be disappointed our aim is to ensure you do not depart for the day still hungry.
Located on the main A361 from Barnstaple, Strathmore is ideally situated only a short walk away from both the town centre and sea front, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Bicclescombe Park with its pleasant gardens, tennis courts and duck pond is just a stroll away. In the mornings why not ask for some bread to feed the ducks.
The famous tunnel beaches are but a 10 minute stroll away, while the great surfing beaches of both Croyde and Woolacombe are but a few minutes drive away. Should you prefer shopping Barnstaple is 20 minutes by car or why not go just that little bit further and visit Atlantic Village Shopping Outlet which is all undercover, and located just a few miles from the stunning and unique village of Clovelly which is steeped in history - where else can you visit that allows no cars, no-one owns their own house and the entire village has been owned by one three familes since the Norman Conquest.
For the North Devon & Exmoor Walking Festival in May we are offering Cycle storage, Washing and drying clothes and packed lunches for our guests.
