The project will investigate the maritime history of Ilfracombe, show the importance of fishing to the development of the town and look at fishing and the uses of the harbour today.
As well as providing information of general and historical interest, we will also be looking at best practice for fishing and crabbing and sustainable beach use.
There will also be a quiz section aimed at children and families.
A taster of some of the information sections…
- History of the pier
- Trawlers and the fishing fleet
- Angling best practice
- Old Quay Head
- St Nicholas Chapel, lighthouse and Lantern Hill
Project part financed by the EFF: Europe and Fisheries Fund – investing in sustainable fisheries.
