Watermouth is a delightful hamlet halfway between the village of Combe Martin, (known as the Gateway to Exmoor) and Ilfracombe. The South West Coast Path traverses the cliffs passing the charming Watermouth Harbour and Widmouth Head, a favourite spot with strategically placed bench for viewing porpoises, dolphins & seals when the tide is right.

Immediately opposite the harbour is Watermouth Castle. This is a delightful Victorian castle which has been transformed in to a family theme park with something for all ages to enjoy. The Castle itself is a Victorian museum of musical instruments and toys and the gardens are an absolute delight, never appearing crowded and always well tended. In addition the grounds house the water fountain theatre, restaurants and gift shops and many charming rides.

Watermouth Yacht Club offers very reasonable visitors mooring fees. Walkers extol the virtues of the spectacular scenery in this area and there is good quality accommodation available from award winning campsites, picturesque lodges and character-full cottages in pretty rural settings and on farms.
